Setting Up Instant Messaging

Exchanging instant messages is a fun and easy way to carry on conversations over the Internet. Unlike sending an email message and waiting for a response, sending and receiving instant messages is immediate. When a buddy is online, you can send a message that instantly pops up on their screen. When they respond, you immediately see their message, too.

Mac OS X comes with an easy-to-use instant messaging program called iChat. With iChat, all you need is an instant messaging account. You can use your Mac.com email account, or if you’ve been using AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), you can use your existing AIM screen name in iChat.
