Connecting to Other Computers on a Network

Mac OS X makes it easy for you to connect to other computers on your local network, a larger network, and even the Internet. In the Connect to Server window in the Finder, you’ll see a list of all computers on your local network with file sharing turned on. Simply select the computer you want to connect to, log in as a guest, and you’ll be able to copy files from the user’s Public folder and place files in their drop box.

If the computer you want to connect to is on another part of a larger network (such as a different building at your work or school, for example) or on the Internet, you can still connect to it. All you need to know is the computer’s IP address (for example, 192.168.1.110) or network address (for example, training.apple.com).
