Setting Up Dialup Internet Access

If you use a modem to connect to the Internet, you need to configure your Mac to dial the correct phone number to access the Internet, and then enter your name or ID and password when it connects. In Mac OS X, you enter your Internet service provider’s phone number and your ID and password in the Network pane of System Preferences. You also use Network preferences to configure your modem settings, such as how it dials and whether or not you want to hear the modem when it dials, for example.

Once your settings are entered in Network preferences, you use the Internet Connect application when you want to connect to the Internet.
